World Intellectual Property Day

April 26, 2012

Today, April 26, is World Intellectual Property Day, a celebration of innovation and creativity and how IP fosters and encourages them.  World Intellectual Property Day was established in 2001 by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), a specialized agency of the United Nations whose mandate is “to promote the protection of IP throughout the world through cooperation among states and in collaboration with other international organizations.”

Learn more about World Intellectual Property Day:

WIPO’s World Intellectual Property Day site  includes links to a world map of World IP Day activities and to a message  about World IP Day from WIPO Director General Francis Gurry.

The United States Copyright Office has a page in support of World IP Day, which includes a message from the Register of Copyrights and GW Law graduate Maria A. Pallante (J.D. ’90).

Visit the Burns Law Library to see our current display, “Copyright and Music,” and celebrate World Intellectual Property Day with us!
