Taking the Blues Out of the Bluebook–Basic, Saturday, Feb. 4, 10-11am, in L301
Attend this library research skills training session for an intensive basic introduction to legal citation using the rules contained in The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation, 19th edition. Participants will learn the basic principles of legal citation and will be taught how to construct citations for the most frequently cited sources in legal writing. The basic session is geared towards the legal writer who has had little or no experience with the Bluebook or for those who would like a refresher course on legal citation.
Librarians will demystify the organization of the Bluebook, demonstrate how to construct proper citations using the Bluebook’s rules and tables, and provide hands-on instruction on how to cite cases, statutes, books, and periodicals.
Students who are already familiar with the organization and basic use of the Bluebook should attend the advanced session at 11:00am. You may attend both sessions.
